Pastoral Staff

Pastor – Rev. Donald L. Friederichsen
Pastor Headshot 2Pastor Donny Friederichsen is a graduate of Reformed Theological Seminary, Orlando (MDiv, ’11) and of The University of Tennessee (B.A., ’99). He and his wife, Kim, have four children. Pastor Donny grew up in Chattanooga, TN and is a proud Tennessean. He and Kim spent several years on staff with Campus Crusade for Christ in the former Soviet Union, at the University of Kentucky, and at the world headquarters of CCC in Orlando.

Pastor Donny also serves as chaplain for the Millburn, NJ Police Department. He enjoys coaching his son’s middle school wrestling team and wading in the streams and rivers of New Jersey attempting to coax trout to strike his lures.

Asst. Pastor – Rev. Christopher Diebold
Pastor Chris Diebold is a graduate of Reformed Theological Seminary, Charlotte (MDiv ’17), the University of Virginia (M.S., ’10), and Washington and Lee University (B.A., B.S., ’09). Pastor Chris grew up in the Philadelphia area and went to W&L to swim. Having grown up Roman Catholic, he came to the Lord through a process in college. After college he worked in business for 4 years in the D.C. area.

Pastor Chris is married to Sarah and they have one daughter. He loves spending time with his family and his black lab, Percy.

 Pastoral Intern – Mr. Jared Smith

Jared Smith is a graduate of Reformed Theological Seminary, Orlando (M.A., ‘12) and Cairn University (B.S., ‘09).  Jared is anative of New Jersey, being raised in Linden and Hamilton.  He is employed as a longeshoreman at the Port of New York and New Jersey.

Jared is married to his wife Adia and they have three children.  He enjoys having fun with their children  and catching a good concert or movie with his wife.

Covenant Presbyterian Church follows the New Testament pattern of government by a Session of Elders. These men, elected by the congregation, meet rigid spiritual requirements set forth in I Timothy 3, and assume full spiritual authority for the congregation. The Session also includes the  Sr. Pastor. The Session has supervision over all activities and actions of the church.

In Acts 6, the Apostles instructed the Church to pick out men of good character, full of the Spirit and wisdom, to provide for the physical needs of the congregation.  Under the supervision of the Session, the Deacons tend to the mercy and financial ministries of the church.
